I’m back!
So, let’s recap. After nearly a month’s hard NaBloPoMo work, my blog was hacked. It was my own damn fault, since I never upgraded my version of WordPress. Let that be a lesson to all you young whippersnappers… when the dashboard tells you that a new version is available, RUN, DON’T WALK to your hosting service and get that puppy updated.
I still have some work to do around here to get things prettied up the way I want them, but at least I have a place to vent again. I didn’t think I’d miss it much, but turns out blogging is still something I enjoy. When I have time. Which, for the next few weeks, I actually have. I submitted my last paper this afternoon and I can officially state that I have survived my first semester of grad school. One semester closer to becoming a bona fide librarian.
It’s kind of weird, sitting here with nothing pressing to do. I deactivated my Facebook account for a little while, too. I have some things that need to get done around here and I don’t need the added distraction. Yeah, I don’t need it during the semester either, but it provides a nice quick break when my brain is getting ready to explode.
There are some weird things afoot lately. I’m trying to find the copy of my police report from when the motherfuckingthievingbastards broke into my house. The other day when I was at work, TOTO asked me a question about putting a YouTube video into a Powerpoint presentation, and I was trying to figure out how to do it – with no luck. So I thought, “Maybe I need to have a YouTube account to do what I’m trying to do.” When I clicked on the link to register, I got a message that I was already logged into my YouTube account because I was signed into Google. And there was my gmail address. But that was most certainly not my profile.
So, it would appear that the person on the receiving end of my stolen laptop managed to get past my password protection and get into my Google account, which was one of three passwords I had stored on the sites. The other two were Yahoo and my blog. I had changed my blog password right away, so no worries there. I changed my Yahoo password today.
But now I’m left wondering what my next step should be. Clearly this guy was getting into my Gmail account on a regular basis, because the entire time since my laptop has been gone, I never received any emails from YouTube. When I discovered what had happened, I changed my password immediately. Today, I received a friend request from a YouTube user that I do not know.
Sooooo…. I don’t know. What do all y’all think?
I’m outta here for now… sleepy and The Boyfriend is emailing me asking me what I want for Christmas. How the hell should I know???
Welcome back!
HI!!! Missed you!
